I really like the looks of the
coral and the tank glowing blue at night. I had a bunch of
LED's that I bought for another project that I didn't use so I
figured I would use them to make a moon light strip. My
first attempt was to cut a 1/2" piece of PVC in half, drill
holes were I wanted the LED's and then using silicone glue the
halves back together. Although this would have worked it
was messy messy messy and when I was done - damn if half the
lights didn't work anymore. Something tells me I pulled a
little hard when making the wires tight. So I decided to
change that to 4 plastic outlet boxes and drill holes in the
them and mount the LED's in there. I hot glued the lights
to the plastic lids of the boxes then wired them all up and next
I have to seal these boxes. This worked much better.
Update - Jan 19, 2007
Changed the way the lights are mounted. After mounting
the T5 lights in the hood I found the moon light boxes were in
the way. I added some 1x3 at an angle with a miter on the
ends, then screwed the plastic boxes to the new angled pieces.
This worked much better - see below.

First attempt. LED's in PVC
PVC Light Bar - tossed it
Plasitc Utility boxes with holes drilled in them.
4 boxes 4 lights each 16 blue LED's
In the dark in my garage. Enough light to walk around without tripping on all the crap in there
