The stand that came with the
aquarium was weak in my eyes and it was ugly. I figured
for the amount of effort to strip, sand and refinish the one
that came with it I would rather build a sturdy stand that I
wouldn't have to worry about. After all no one wants 180
gallons of water on there floor. I got the idea for the
frame of this stand from
www.garf.org DIY section. Pretty basic 2x4
construction. The outside I used 1x4 for the sides and 1x3
for the doors. All and all I like the way it is coming out
although I am pretty sure you can drive a car on it and I will
not collapse.
